"NHS staff are resilient, resourceful and deeply committed to their work. But they’re not super heroes. As the world of work shifts around them, NHS staff are locked into rigid schedules whilst demand escalates. This is pushing clinicians out of healthcare careers as they’re too exhausted to continue. And that heaps further pressure on those who remain. It’s a vicious cycle we can ill-afford. Too many clinicians have, like myself and my co-founder, found themselves trapped in a schedule which can grind you down and push you out of a career you love."

BankiFi want to change that by putting banks at the heart of businesses' day-to-day needs. "The NHS is facing a workforce crisis. Burnout is at record levels and more staff are planning to leave than ever before. And the systems which manage the NHS workforce are exacerbating the problem. As a doctor, I know how frustrating it is to feel like a number on a spreadsheet rather than a human being with a life outside of work – it’s a key driver in pushing people out of the healthcare profession. If we’re reaching burnout, we have two options: put up with it or quit. Our technology and services are making a different, better way possible."

"Those best placed to solve the challenges facing our healthcare system are the people who have worked on the frontline. Jing and I both struggled to maintain a healthy work-life balance as junior doctors, and we watched countless colleagues step away from full-time practice and into the world of locum agencies as a result of the daily pressures faced by medics. We felt there must be a better way of doing things; one where the NHS could staff wards safely and affordably, and where healthcare workers could find the right working balance for them, without the need for an expensive middleman. That’s why we created Patchwork."
