The Norwich-based drug discovery startup emerged from stealth with backing from SynBioVen, Start Codon, UKI2S, Twin Path Ventures, Wren Capital, angels, and Innovate UK.
"We grow greener medicines using a platform that makes the impossible accessible. The drug discovery field desperately needs new chemical space and the vaccine field needs new adjuvants, with supply chains that work for everyone. By combining AI with plant engineering, we can reach molecules others cannot, and scale them in a way that supports global health, not just high-income markets."
Notion Capital led the Series B round to support the company expansion across North America, APAC, and Europe.
"Our world runs on nature-based commodities, yet information on the physical source of these assets remains largely invisible to the systems that depend on them. Data informs the flow of capital, and at Treefera we equip enterprises with the clarity to strengthen supply chain resilience, secure future revenue, and scale the upside of regenerative practices. With defensible real-time insights on commodities, ingredients and carbon from the first-mile, businesses can not only have clearer sightlines into sourcing but mitigate risk and ensure compliance. This backing led by Notion Capital enables us to accelerate our mission globally for the benefit of business and planet."
The seed round was led by Twin Path Ventures to commercialise ultrasonic battery diagnostics.
"This funding represents a significant milestone for Sention as we continue to innovate at the forefront of battery diagnostics. We are grateful to our investors for supporting our mission to enable the electrochemical power revolution by enhancing the performance, quality, and safety of batteries."
Twin Path Ventures led the seed financing for the Belfast biotechnology firm to accelerate its preclinical discovery programmes.
"Ten years ago, I began combining financial modeling expertise with computational biology to create a drug discovery platform. Evolution has spent billions of years perfecting natural defense mechanisms, and now we’re using AI to unlock this wisdom. This isn’t just professional for me; my father died from a drug-resistant infection our healthcare system couldn’t treat. At Queen’s, I built AMPLY to tackle deadly diseases differently, creating technology that will save lives when current treatments fail."
The pre-seed round was led by data and AI specialist fund J12 with backing from angels and Twin Path Ventures.
"Blue chip lawyers’ time is extremely valuable, and yet too much of it is taken up by manual tasks such as WIP list analysis, scope tracking and budget monitoring, and the associated routine client comms. We believe that in 2024, machines are perfectly equipped to handle those tasks whilst keeping the lawyer firmly in the loop; they also benefit from the insights gleaned from law firms’ vast historic time and billing datasets that are ordinarily not discernible to humans."
The pre-seed investment was led by Nick Slater and John Spindler at Twin Path Ventures to support engineering and compliance growth.
"With the current explosion in AI capabilities, we believe Jenesys is well placed to take advantage. The team passed extensive technical due diligence to prove their use of cutting edge AI, integrating it directly into everyday workflows to allow for seamless productivity gains. We are very excited about what they can achieve."
Concept Ventures led the pre-seed round, which will fund platform enhancements and team expansion.
"The Treefera platform and its exceptional team impressed us beyond measure. This innovation not only contributes to the fight against climate change but also offers businesses, governments, and landowners a compelling commercial opportunity. With Treefera, trust and accuracy are injected into carbon offset projects, positioning tree conservation as the smart and essential choice."
