Octopus Ventures led the seed financing round to help the Sheffield spin-out commercialise its infrared sensors.
"We are delighted to be leading this investment round for Phlux Technology, as this innovative breakthrough is critical to the future direction of transport, communication and emission monitoring systems,"
The Series B financing was led by Parkwalk Advisors and BGF to support the commercial scale-up of power transistors.
"CGD is poised to become one of the leaders in enabling a sustainable world. As we move to a net-zero carbon society with rapidly increasing levels of electrification, we need clean, renewable sources of electricity and more efficient conversion methods. GaN provides the optimum conversion solution, reducing power losses by more than 50% and increasing energy conversion efficiency to above 99%. To take just one application example, if all data centres were to adopt GaN, this would save 12.4TWh of electricity per year, or 9 million tons of CO2 – the equivalent of taking 1.9 million internal combustion engines vehicles off the road for a year *. Our ICeGaN™ GaN transistors – which are now in the hands of customers at scale – are amongst the most efficient devices of their type on the market. Our devices are also the easiest for designers to use."
The funding round was backed by investors including Green Angel Syndicate and Beiersdorf.
"We are thrilled to have secured further funding from such a great consortium of companies. The collaboration will play an integral part in helping the next phase of our growth journey as we see the demand for Eco-Valve continue to rise. Moreover, the partnership also demonstrates a strong shared commitment to supporting the environment too. And it is by working together with all our stakeholders, we passionately believe we can not only support the aerosol industry but revolutionise it."
Foresight Williams Technology led the oversubscribed round alongside several regional and specialist investors.
"We are excited to announce our support for such a forward thinking and innovative business. Nebu~Flow’s development of delivery mechanisms tailored to specific drugs represents an opportunity to expand the market and improve patient outcomes. Foresight Williams Technology’s expertise will offer significant value as the Company develops its products, and we look forward to working with the team at Nebu~Flow during the next stage of their growth."
The Bristol-based chip company raised £2.6m from Foresight Williams Technology, Verve Ventures, and u-blox to expand its laboratory and team.
"With proven capability to detect motion smaller than the size of a single electron, cavity optomechanical sensing has already had extraordinary benefits for fundamental physics research. Now, we are harnessing this power to improve the inertial sensing devices we’ve come to rely on, bringing untold new potential to drones, VR/AR, indoor navigation and imaging stabilization."
