"Whilst most companies have some form of volunteering or a social good program, typically engagement is really low. We solve that by making doing good bite-size, on-demand and based on your exact location with off-the-charts employee engagement results. That’s because the world wants to do good: we’ve just made it so much easier. This raise lets us help businesses everywhere deliver incredible impact."
The Newcastle-based utility platform has raised a follow-on investment led by DSW Ventures and Northstar Ventures to scale operations and enhance technology.
"We’re delighted to raise this follow-on round from our investors, our second investment in a challenging but very rewarding 12-month period. This is a huge vote of confidence in our business and reflects the incredible progress that the One Utility Bill team has achieved over the last 12 months. We’ll be using the funds to further accelerate our customer growth and invest in our technology."
Northstar Ventures and angel investors back Durham information security software provider.
"According to IBM, the average cost of a data breach in 2020 was £2.9 million. Yet most businesses are left with inefficient, costly and paper-heavy manual processes to manage this risk."
Northstar Ventures backed the Durham technology firm with capital from regional innovation funds.
"We are absolutely delighted that our Durham company can continue to grow at the global leading edge of technology innovation. The world is becoming more and more reliant upon artificial intelligence. AI is only as good as the data that is used to create it. Our products will make AI safer and easier to use."
The funding round was led by Mercia with participation from the Future Fund, Ascension Ventures, and Northstar Ventures.
"We’ve been extremely busy supporting our credit union partners during Covid-19. The lockdown not only escalated the need for credit unions to offer their members digital access, but also to communicate with them more regularly and effectively, something our technology also enables them to do. Credit unions have been at the forefront of supporting financially excluded and often vulnerable individuals and families over recent months, so we are delighted to offer them technology which not only better supports existing members in a digital world, but also enables them to promote their message of ethical, supportive banking to a wider audience."
The funding round was backed by Northstar Ventures and angel investor Andrew Robson to support product development.
"On average, we check our smartphones every 12 minutes – they’re always in our immediate reach. Text giving is a really simple and accessible way for anyone to make a one-off or monthly donation to a charity in less than a minute."
DSW Angels led the Series A round to support platform development and business expansion.
"The last few years have been incredibly exciting for us. This new investment will enable us to further build a stable and scalable platform for growth. Our customer-first approach means that people trust us and come back year after year. We now serve thousands of students, young professionals, families and others with our all in one service. Dale and I are excited about the next stage of growth which will include expanding the team based in Newcastle."
