The funding round was led by BGF and Downing to support the rollout of the company's respiratory diagnostics business.
"COPD is the third leading cause of death in the world and prevalence of respiratory diseases is rising. But the current clinical pathway for COPD diagnostics is stuck in the 1800s and is ineffective, inefficient and expensive. In England alone, the NHS estimates that a third of people with hospital admissions from COPD have not been diagnosed, by which point their disease has progressed, their quality of life has deteriorated and the cost to the healthcare system has ballooned."
The financing round was led by Pembroke VCT and Downing Healthcare Ventures to support the company in scaling its AI surgical technology.
"Cydar Medical is at a key inflection point and we are working to leverage our novel world-class platform and capabilities to rapidly scale our intelligent surgical maps offering through increasing the number of end-users and launching additional value-add capabilities on the platform."
The oversubscribed round will scale up manufacturing and research for the bioactive protein developer.
"We are at an exciting stage of development, with new funds facilitating our next phase of rapid growth as we continue our mission of providing more reliable tools for research and bio-manufacturing. Our platform provides an improved process for complex protein manufacture at exceptionally high purity and unique engineered products that address specific challenges for stem cell biology. Growth factors are essential reagents for all stem cell manufacturing, and therefore critical for the delivery of cell therapies and cultivated meats."
The London-based immersive simulation platform has raised $20m to accelerate medical skill transfer and grow in the United States.
"With increasingly complex surgical procedures, it is important to provide medical professionals with new methods for surgical skills transfer and continued training and education while managing both the cost and time burden associated with these activities,"
The follow-on investment will support international expansion and product development.
"We’re thrilled that Downing Ventures has decided to back us in our next chapter. The Downing team offers a lot more than just funding and their expertise in the sector will provide a value-add that will really accelerate our service. With this new funding, we’ll be able to lean into our goal of internationalising and developing our products and communities."
