Retail analytics startup Uncrowd completes its seed round with backing from behavioural science expert Phil Barden.

"Phil’s investment is significant not least because outside of Uncrowd, he is probably the only other person on the planet right now who can claim to be expert in understanding the role of friction versus reward. Phil Barden’s book ‘Decoded. The Science Behind Why We Buy’ is a foundational text on practical behavioural science, every retailer should read it, we at Uncrowd are honoured to have Phil’s unique expertise now available to us. Together we will continue to transform the next generation of customer analytics."

The oversubscribed round will enable the Cambridge based firm to bring its calibration free pH sensors to market.

"We are delighted to work with ANB Sensors. The team has done a tremendous job to develop this technology and we are excited about the multitude of its applications across many sectors. Measuring pH is a real pain point, not only in aquaculture, and we are glad we can support this much needed solution."

Propoly empowers letting agencies to be able to focus on the key aspects that generate business whilst allowing the Propoly system to take care of the administrative burden, the upselling of revenue generating products and any compliance issues that arise."

"This is such an important milestone for Trojan Energy. Ever since we started this business, we have wanted to ensure that the benefits of the low carbon transition can be realised by everyone and not just those with a driveway. With this investment, our vision has moved a step closer. The rewards for our customers and our planet will be massive and prove the point that a big idea and great engineering can change the world."

The Middlesbrough-based pricing platform secured the seed capital from Mercia and private investors to fund international expansion.

"Pricing has previously appeared like a dark art, and traditional approaches are problematic and not very effective. Trying to price match with competitors can lead to price erosion, especially in a downturn, while sales staff often resort to discounting to meet targets."
