The Bristol-based chip company raised £2.6m from Foresight Williams Technology, Verve Ventures, and u-blox to expand its laboratory and team.
"With proven capability to detect motion smaller than the size of a single electron, cavity optomechanical sensing has already had extraordinary benefits for fundamental physics research. Now, we are harnessing this power to improve the inertial sensing devices we’ve come to rely on, bringing untold new potential to drones, VR/AR, indoor navigation and imaging stabilization."
The funding round was led by Longwall Venture Partners and BGF to drive team expansion and new laboratory facilities.
"Helio is on a mission to use our world-leading perovskite science to step up the performance and efficiency of displays. This fund raising marks a change of gear for Helio, enabling us to significantly grow our capacity to design products and engage with partners in the display supply chain. I would like to thank and acknowledge our enormously supportive investors who share our vision of a bright future for perovskites in displays."
Coretronic provided the investment alongside European family offices to support mass production ramp-up.
"Having industry heavyweight Coretronic on board as an investor and partner is further validation of both FlexEnable’s business model and our technology leadership in the materials and processes which enable volume production of unique flexible optical modules and displays. As a principal player in the LCD supply chain, Coretronic’s deep industry expertise will be a great benefit to us as we now move from production setup to mass production. We are very excited to have strong new investors on board, and very grateful for the on-going support from Rusnano and Novares, who have been instrumental in enabling us to develop our technology and great commercial projects over the past years."
The Cambridge biotechnology company has raised £31.4m from investors including M&G and Amadeus Capital Partners to advance its desktop protein printer.
"There’s a fundamental productivity problem in biotech today. A biotech scientist needs to know how to make proteins to design drugs. That’s like expecting a computer scientist to know how to build a computer to design software,"
GWC led the £6m round through equity and a convertible loan note.
"We are very excited about Power Roll’s technology and its potential applications in clean energy production and storage. The company has the potential to generate solar powered electricity on numerous building surfaces at a very low cost. The technology is also has significant application in energy storage. We look forward to working with the management team and fellow investors."
