Maureen brings investment and board experience across the space and deeptech sectors, currently serving as a principal at Seraphim Space. Her governance roles include board seats and observations at companies such as D-Orbit and ChAI.
The seed round was led by Seraphim Space with backing from prominent technology founders and investors.
"Persistent maritime coverage has been too expensive for too long. That has limited what governments and operators can actually see, protect and respond to at sea. We built Online Oceans to change that. This funding allows us to scale production and support customers who need a far more practical way to monitor critical waters, protect infrastructure and maintain awareness over long periods."
Seraphim Space led the pre-seed round to help accelerate development of the company decision-layer software.
"Increasingly, the constraint is no longer hardware but human attention. We can deploy more drones than ever before, yet we still ask operators to control them one by one, often in environments where communications are unreliable. True autonomy breaks that one‑to‑one link, allowing humans to supervise and direct teams of systems rather than individual machines. That shift is essential for supporting modern military missions, where scale, speed and resilience matter, and where operators must remain focused on intent and outcomes rather than manual control."
The British Business Bank contributed £5m to the £30m financing alongside several new and existing backers.
"SatVu has created a unique technology at a time of great demand for defence innovation. They have proved the strategic value of their technology so we are pleased to provide the funding that will help them to scale and win further contracts."
The investment was led by the BOKA Group to fund the commercial launch of the firm's first-generation terminal.
"All of our investors’ confidence reflects the critical role our technology plays in addressing the growing demand for resilient and seamless connectivity across defence and space industries. We are laser-focused on executing our strategy and delivering the cutting-edge solutions our partners and customers rely on, ensuring critical communications in the most challenging environments."
The seed round was led by Seraphim Space to fund the development of new commodity risk insurance products.
"Welcome to Insurtech Gateway ChAI. Industrial supply chains face increasing price volatility in commodities with the majority unable to access hedging tools. ChAI solves this problem through a smart price protection solution backed by insurance. We are delighted to help you prove out and scale this model. We were really impressed by ChAI’s deep data insights into market and pricing dynamics."
