The investment round was led by Maven Capital Partners through the Investment Fund for Scotland alongside Scottish Enterprise.
"We are delighted to have secured this significant investment led by Maven, which highlights the strength of our technology and reinforces our vision for the future of water disinfection. This funding represents a tremendous opportunity to scale our operations, drive innovation through research and development, and deliver sustainable, cost-effective water treatment solutions to a growing global market."
The funding round was led by Equity Gap with co-investment from Scottish Enterprise and support from Lifted Ventures.
"Lifted Ventures immediately understood the challenges our product addresses for women and recognized the potential of the market we’re targeting. Their members are more than investors – they bring invaluable networks and skillsets that are often difficult to secure. I’ve been hugely impressed by their enthusiasm, capability, and commitment, especially in encouraging more female investors into equity investing."
The Edinburgh spinout will use the capital to launch new programmes and establish its operational footprint.
"We are so excited to be taking the next step in our spin-out journey and want to sincerely thank all the investors and supporters who have helped us make it happen. Our ambition is to be the go-to partner for gene control to make gene and cell therapies as safe as possible. This commitment from our investors, building on the ongoing support from Scottish Enterprise, speaks to the potential they see in our work, and we look forward to using the funding to further develop our technology."
The oversubscribed round was co-led by Forbion, FMC Ventures, and Corteva Inc.
"SOLASTA Bio has come a long way since we set out on this journey 3 years ago. Having established operations in the UK and US, we’ve now got an international team with outstanding competencies in technology and agribusiness and, importantly, we have developed our unique technology platform to address grower pain points. The results of our field trials have been hugely encouraging, demonstrating high efficacy of biopeptides against target insect pests, as effective or better than standard insecticides. With Series A now secured, it’s time for SOLASTA Bio to kick on to the next level and successfully hit our targets for commercialisation."
