The funding round was led by James Meekings, Andrew Mullinger, and David Rutter, with participation from Mishcon de Reya.
"The need for the legal market to rapidly adapt in light of the Covid-19 pandemic has been a major catalyst for change, and we believe there is an enormous opportunity to help lawyers cut out fraud risk while improving the client experience during life’s big moments, through a slick and simple mobile app. We’ve seen a huge increase in demand from our law firm clients and, despite a challenging market backdrop, we’ve secured a further £1m investment which will allow us to press the pedal harder on our growth plans. Our technology transforms the highly inefficient, manual methods used by many firms, improving identity verification and money laundering compliance, and reducing the risk of cybercrime– three areas in which lawyers face increasing anxiety and uncertainty from heavy regulatory burdens, technology overload and rampant fraud."
Maven Capital Partners co-led the £3.4m round to support the firm in scaling its operations overseas, notably in the US market.
"Gen inCode represents a fantastic opportunity for Maven to support a truly innovative business which is utilising AI and bioinformatics in order to enable medical practitioners to make more proactive, precise and impactful decisions on how they treat their patients. The precision medicine market is an exciting space and webelieve Gen inCode is well positioned to grow, leveraging its advanced genomic technology and the valuable IP it has amassed to date. We look forward to working with the senior management team to fulfil the company’s potential."
Calbot has secured pre-seed investment from Nephos Solutions and regional tech investors to support the growth of its meeting scheduling platform.
"Like most people, I’ve had the frustration of trying to organise a meeting with a number of different people and have spent too much time trying to find the right schedule for everyone. It usually involves many emails going back and forth between the groups. We developed Calbot to find the best time for a meeting in seconds and enable people to get on with their jobs rather than spend time organising meetings"
The seed round was led by Vanneck Investments with backing from a group of prominent angel investors and founders.
"We’re thrilled to have some amazing investors on board and look forward to leaning on their expertise as we broaden the horizons for Skrap. Our team has huge ambitions to scale across the UK and globally. Having laid the foundations in Skip hire, we are fast expanding in all construction hire verticals. Skrap is making its mark in industry by introducing the first mobile app that makes it simple and convenient for construction companies to access resources they need."
