Scottish software planning startup Ruffly has raised £300k in a pre-seed funding round led by Techstart Ventures. The capital will be directed towards team expansion and product development ahead of the company's full platform launch.

Founded by former software agency owner Matt Farrugia, Ruffly aims to address widespread inefficiencies in software project estimation and delivery. The startup is currently running in public beta with international customers.

Techstart Ventures led the round, backing the firm as it prepares to transition from beta to a full commercial release.

From the founder

"The digital economy is 22% of global GDP and yet it’s an inside joke that software and IT projects often overrun. Studies have shown that two-thirds of projects have planning failures. That’s a trillion dollar collective failure of our industry."
