The funding round was led by Green Angel Syndicate to expand international laboratories and build the UK scientific team.

"forensic scientists have used DNA to identify individuals at crime scenes for years – now we can use our technology to identify the whole range of species, from bacteria to birds, present in the environment using small samples of soil or water taken by non-experts in the field and processed in our laboratories. Our technology can identify tiny fragments of DNA left behind by species and pin point exactly which species it is from."

£180K

The funding round was led by private investors alongside co-investment from the Development Bank of Wales.

"We are really pleased that the Development Bank of Wales, private investors, and our overseas existing investor recognise our potential and our achievements to date, as we capitalise on the industry drive to reduce dependence on chemical pesticides with safe and sustainable solutions. This additional investment will accelerate ongoing product development and take advantage of the growing biopesticide market"
— Minshad Ansari, Founder and CEO
Series A
£35.0M

The Series A round was led by Syncona and included a £1m investment from the UCL Technology Fund.

"It’s really exciting to be in at the start of something that could potentially change the way things are done. By bringing together academia and commerce, Quell Therapeutics will be at the cutting edge of the research and development of this important field."
— Zickie Lim, Corporate partner
Series D+
£3.7M

Greenwood Way Capital and 24Haymarket led the financing round to support international expansion and operations.

"We are delighted to raise this additional funding. Due to our over-subscribed investment round earlier this year, we decided to add on a second tranche to accommodate the additional interest. We are currently recruiting and looking at prospective new facilities in the UK and California to support the growth of our commercial and scientific activities."
— Frank Craig, CEO
Series B
£13.3M

Parkwalk Advisors led the financing round, which brings Congenica to a total of £23.3m raised for its Series B.

"In addition, we can now begin to penetrate international markets. The deepening of our relationship with DCHealth gives us greater insight into the needs of the China market, with the recent development of an on-premise version of our platform the most notable example."
— David Atkins, Chief Executive Officer
