NatureMetrics provides DNA-based bio-monitoring data to help businesses, governments, and NGOs measure their impact on biodiversity. The company uses environmental samples to survey species at scale.
NatureMetrics has secured £2.5m in a seed funding round led by Green Angel Syndicate. The company intends to direct the capital towards expanding its team of scientists in the UK and growing its international laboratory footprint across Latin America, Africa and South East Asia.
The capital injection will also support the broader application of the company's technology, moving beyond basic species identification to assess ecosystem health, restoration efforts and biodiversity net gain initiatives. NatureMetrics currently enables clients ranging from Arctic researchers to Peruvian conservationists to process environmental samples and generate large ecological datasets.
