The financing round was led by Archangel Investors to support ongoing Phase IIa trials for its lead antibiotic.

"There remains a desperate need for novel treatments in our armoury to treat C. difficile infections. The work that MGB Biopharma is undertaking is both important and innovative and the results that have been achieved so far have been very encouraging."

£4.5M

The Edinburgh medical device firm secured backing from Archangels and the Scottish Investment Bank to prepare for its American market entry.

"We are delighted by the continuing commitment of our existing investors in this financing. This new investment allows us to continue to execute our strategy as we anticipate PMA approval for our CALCIVIS Imaging System later this year from FDA. We remain very confident in the potential of this new approach to preventive dentistry in the US, when it is launched in the world’s largest dentistry market in 2020. This optimism has been reinforced by our experience in the UK, where the CALCIVIS Imaging System has been shown to provide reliable, visualisation of demineralisation enabling bespoke, evidence-based preventive treatment for dental caries patients."
— Adam Christie, CEO

This investment, led by Epidarex Capital, will help propel Clyde Biosciences to a new level, allowing us to strengthen our team, reinforce our commercial offering and broaden our geographic reach. We welcome the support of our investment partners and look forward to an exciting future."

The Oxford-based crop protection firm secured the financing from co-leads Oxford Sciences Innovation and Parkwalk Advisors.

"Weeds are now a greater threat to crop yields than at any time in recent decades. New solutions are urgently needed. Raising £6m at this stage in the company’s development is a real testament to the strength of the company’s prospects."

Startup Funding Club backs artificial intelligence biomedicine startup Intoolab in its seed round.

"We are thrilled to be part of such an important portfolio and to work closely with such a great team like SFC. Since the first time we met, Stephen Page showed us that we understand each other and share the same ambition towards global reach and technological excellence. Our main goal is to show the Medicine world that Intoolab and Tzager will soon be the closest they can get to true AI – especially when talking about drug discovery. You cannot have better scientists than those that can process millions of data in minutes, while at the same time understanding the whole process from a research objective to its completion. This is what we do."
— Nikos Tzagkarakis, CEO
