Joseph brings early-stage startup investment experience from his role as chief investment officer at SFC Capital and Startup Funding Club, following earlier analytical roles at Nomura International and BNP Paribas.
Carmelo brings venture capital experience from his time as an investment manager at SFC Capital. He has since founded DeliveryByte and taken on roles in commercial management.
The seed round was led by Startup Funding Club and will support product development for the tax platform.
"Ember was born out of first-hand frustration with being self-employed and having no financial training. After setting up my own company as an IT contractor, I was struck by how onerous it was to stay on top of my books and taxes. When I eventually buckled and paid an accountant, I felt constantly in the dark about what he was lodging on my behalf. It became painfully obvious to me throughout the whole experience that so much of the accounting function could be automated. I did some digging and discovered that the vast majority of contractors in the market felt the same."
Startup Funding Club led the seed round to help accelerate product development and national growth.

Startup Funding Club backs artificial intelligence biomedicine startup Intoolab in its seed round.

Startup Funding Club backed the Welsh cyber security startup through its early stage funds.

Startup Funding Club and the London Co-Investment Fund have led a seed round into Sceenic to support its international expansion.
