Finance Wales backs Swansea electronics provider to scale operations and accelerate software development.
"Since moving to our new Kings Dock facility we’ve been able to further develop our services by utilising our increased capacity and developing our bespoke warehouse management and reporting software. With Finance Wales’ latest investment we’ll be able to accelerate this development, boosting our growth and allowing us to maintain our high quality service to both existing and new customers."
The Belfast start-up raised the capital largely through the Halo business angel network to prepare for its summer product launch.
"If you want to measure the height of a person – or indeed, a horse, wardrobe, door or any number of everyday things – how would you do that? Astonishingly, although it is 2016 and we are surrounded by sophisticated hand-held measurement devices, the only readily available tools for measuring the height of everyday things are sticks and tapes – ‘technologies’ that were invented thousands of years ago."
The funding round was led by Mercia Technologies with a £1.2m investment.
"We’re delighted to have been able to help this exciting business secure this vital funding. The global devices market is expanding and developing at such a fast pace and ground-breaking enhancements like that of Smart Antenna’s are instrumental in enabling the key players to keep ahead of their competitors in maintaining and growing their market shares. We’re also thrilled to play a part in enabling exciting ideas and innovation coming out of the Midlands region to have impact on an international scale."
The funding round was led by JamJar Investments with participation from Missri Group and an Asian manufacturing group.
"I recognised the hassle that comes along with a regular booster seat when my children were in a carpool or getting picked up by their grandparents. So I realised that, if I could design a booster that was mighty small and mighty strong, one that kids could take with them everywhere, then they could always travel safely, no matter whose car they went in."
