The fresh capital follows £1.5m in previous investment secured since the company launched in 2014.

"We know how much people research online nowadays before committing to a purchase, which has resulted in the huge growth of comparison sites in sectors such as insurance, travel and grocery retailing. It struck me that there were no such sites for consumers to compare trusted alternatives for vehicle repairs, despite the fact that research shows that car owners are often uncertain about where to find quality services that can still offer great value."

The Belfast start-up raised the capital largely through the Halo business angel network to prepare for its summer product launch.

"If you want to measure the height of a person – or indeed, a horse, wardrobe, door or any number of everyday things – how would you do that? Astonishingly, although it is 2016 and we are surrounded by sophisticated hand-held measurement devices, the only readily available tools for measuring the height of everyday things are sticks and tapes – ‘technologies’ that were invented thousands of years ago."

The Belfast startup has closed a seed round backed by Halo and Co Fund NI.

"This has been a very exciting time for the company and this fresh investment will enable Taggled to scale up, increase headcount and fully launch our product in European and US markets in the near future. Our aim is to offer vloggers a simple, informative tool for creating dynamic and interactive content for their users and this funding will maximise our ability to do this."
