The seed round was led by high profile technology executives including Shutterstock CEO Jon Oringer.
"We believe in the importance of creating an inclusive internet where both adults and children can actively participate in online communities while enjoying a truly positive experience. With the help of our technology, platforms have a better way to manage content with visibility into potential problems and the ability to head off negative experiences for their community members. Thanks to our investors that have shown the belief in our dream, with their help and guidance Checkstep can expedite our project to provide safe, ethical moderation of harmful or false content that causes so much damage to society."
Maven Capital Partners led the seed follow-on round to support product development and sales growth.
"Guru represents an exciting opportunity for our VCTs to invest in a trusted supplier of carbon saving IoT technology. As a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, residential heating presents one of the greatest challenges in global and UK efforts to achieve net-zero emission. Heat networks have a major role to play but, like standalone domestic boilers, they can be hampered by inefficiency. This makes Guru’s sophisticated monitoring and AI-driven analytics technology very attractive to developers and operators as they strive to build efficient and cost-effective heating systems. We look forward to supporting the Guru team and helping them fulfil their growth aspirations."
Barclays led the funding round with participation from existing backers to accelerate international expansion and product development.
"This investment recognises that with powerful real-time software solutions underpinning our emerging green energy systems, tackling the world’s greatest threat of climate change can also become the world’s greatest commercial opportunity. Barclays shares our vision and has a broad customer base in the UK and internationally, which includes many energy businesses. I am looking forward to working with them to help achieve our ambitious goals."
Beringea and Mercia backed the Series A round to support international growth and product development.
"It is not often that you meet a founding team that has advised heads of state alongside Facebook and Google: in Vidhya and Ross, we are working with entrepreneurs that provide world-leading perspectives on the global trends shaping the future of online threats. As Moonshot scales its presence in Washington D.C., Beringea will be working closely with the team to leverage our transatlantic footprint and build an international success story together."
