Checkstep raises £1.3m in seed funding led by Jon Oringer, Emil Michael, and Charles Songhurst to expand its content moderation technology

Checkstep has secured £1.3m in seed funding to advance its scale to market plans and enhance its artificial intelligence capabilities for content moderation. The round was led by Shutterstock founder Jon Oringer, former Uber chief business officer Emil Michael, and former Microsoft head of corporate strategy Charles Songhurst.
Founded in 2020, the safety tech startup provides contextual moderation tools designed to foster safer digital communities and combat online harm. The fresh capital will support further technical hires as the firm continues developing its end to end moderation processes.
