Origami secures £20.5m in Series C funding led by Barclays to scale green energy software
Barclays led the funding round with participation from existing backers to accelerate international expansion and product development.
Origami builds trading and automation software for the green energy sector, helping operators manage complex renewable power markets. The firm operates from Cambridge.
Origami has secured £20.5m in a Series C funding round led by Barclays through its Sustainable Impact Capital initiative. The capital injection includes follow-on commitments from existing backers Octopus Ventures, Aggreko, and Cambridge Innovation Capital.
The company will direct the funds towards enhancing its software suite, expanding its customer base, and scaling operations into international markets. The raise underscores growing investor interest in technologies aimed at reducing global carbon emissions.
Barclays views the investment as a step towards supporting technologies critical for a low-carbon economy. Origami intends to leverage its new backer's international network and energy sector expertise.

Investor perspective
"It is becoming increasingly clear that powerful digital solutions, like Origami’s, are critical enablers for maximising the potential of green energy assets such as renewables, batteries, and EVs. Their technology is essential for a successful and timely transition to a low-carbon economy, and the opportunity for Barclays to partner with such a compelling business in the world-class Cambridge Greentech ecosystem is an exciting prospect."
