Quilam Capital led the debt financing alongside the UK Government Future Fund and high net worth backers.
"Over the years we’ve seen innovators making use of open banking, shed light on financial health and provide credit, however Updraft provides a truly unique offering across all of these aspects with a market leading solution to give customers the fairly priced credit they deserve. We’re delighted to invest in Updraft and support the business on their mission to give consumers the tools to save and reach their life goals faster."
The company secured the capital from over 1250 investors via the Seedrs platform.
"We wanted to give our customers the opportunity to be a true part of Ziglu through ownership. We have been overwhelmed by support for the crowdfunding round, resulting in Ziglu becoming the largest equity campaign on Seedrs this year. Our vision for financial inclusion and community support translates through all our initiatives whether it’s crowdfunding, charitable giving or personal finance – providing fair and equal access to everyone – the same approach we take to crypto."
The digital bank secured £60m from new and existing backers, bringing its total funds raised this year to £125m.
"“From the beginning, Monzo has been creating a new kind of bank that’s giving people more oversight and control over their finances than ever before.“"
The company has closed a seed follow-on investment round to support its official launch in the United Kingdom.
"Despite being the founder of a successful business in Ukraine, when I first moved to London I was unable to access credit from high street banks. This is because I was considered “thin file” – I didn’t have a UK credit history the banks could base a decision on."
