"We have raised over £1.1m from almost 1,900 investors, making us the biggest crowdfunded business with the most amount of investors, ever. Having 1,900 members in our swine dining club will enable us to catapult our three year plan to take the business to over £20m turnover building on more new lines in the supermarkets and in the trade. The team and I are completely overwhelmed by the success of the campaign and motivations across the business are extremely high. Very exciting times ahead!"
The crowdfunding campaign drew anchor investment from Hinduja Group and Tamar Capital.
"We believe in placing people at the heart of the smart city. That’s why crowdfunding works so well for us and it’s been great to welcome so many investors into our community. With the support of Hinduja Group, Siemens and Tamar Capital, our plan of making our technology ubiquitous for all cities becomes achievable."
The Cardiff-based subscription service exceeded its target by 154% and welcomed Pontus Noren to its board.
"To have so many people willing to invest their hard-earned cash on our company is amazing and to welcome investors of the calibre of Pontus to the board has been phenomenal."
The Series A round was led by Earthworm with participation from InnoEnergy, Crowdcube, and Centrica to accelerate international expansion and product development.
"At Earthworm we are driven by sustainability and Verv represents a brilliant example of ‘enabling’ technology. Its energy metering, analytics and renewable energy trading platform will help millions to reduce energy consumption, to shift their demand to minimise cost and CO2."
