Microplate Dx secures £2.5m in seed funding led by Deepbridge Capital and others to advance diagnostic platform.
The financing round includes contributions from Deepbridge Capital, Scottish Enterprise, SIS Ventures, Thairm Bio, and the University of Strathclyde to support clinical trials and commercial expansion.
Microplate Dx develops a rapid diagnostic platform designed to detect bacterial infections and identify effective antibiotic treatments within minutes. The University of Strathclyde spinout focuses on tackling antimicrobial resistance starting with urinary tract infections.
Glasgow diagnostics firm Microplate Dx has secured £2.5m in a seed financing round backed by a consortium of existing and new investors, including Deepbridge Capital and Scottish Enterprise. The proceeds will support ongoing clinical trials and advance commercialisation efforts across European pharmacies alongside preparations for American market entry. The company addresses antimicrobial resistance through proprietary hardware and data algorithms that deliver antibiotic susceptibility results in minutes rather than days.
From the founder
"Our mission at Microplate Dx is to improve the quality of lives for patients by providing antimicrobial stewardship cost-effectively. Any delay in identifying the correct antibiotic for treatment can put lives at risks and huge pressure on clinical decision making, especially when the antibiotic sensitivity data that Microplate Dx can produce in an hour or less compared to the current approach that can take two days using existing techniques."
