DeadHappy secures £11m Series B investment to advance its platform
The funding round was backed by Octopus Ventures, Headline, Volution, Verso Capital, and Channel 4 Ventures, alongside a retail crowdfunding campaign.
DeadHappy operates as a digital life insurance provider offering a pay-as-you-go model and planning platform. The firm enables customers to arrange deathwishes alongside their insurance policies.
DeadHappy has secured £11m in a Series B funding round backed by existing and new institutional investors alongside a crowdfunding campaign on Seedrs. The capital will support the expansion of the company platform and technology capabilities as demand for digital life insurance increases. Octopus Ventures and Headline returned to participate in the raise, joined by Volution, Verso Capital, and Channel 4 Ventures, with more than 1000 individual investors also contributing.
The business has reported strong growth over the previous year, driven by consumer interest in its streamlined insurance offering and bespoke planning features. Channel 4 Ventures will provide media support to help scale television advertising campaigns for the brand.
From the founder
"We’re delighted to have such great support from the VC community as well as ‘the Crowd’. There’s significant momentum behind revolutionising the life insurance space, but there is also a much broader opportunity for our deathwish platform which allows people to plan exactly what they want to happen when they die. We’re here to help our customers think about how they want to be remembered and enable those wishes to be tied into their life insurance plan, to give it a real meaning."
