CellVoyant secures £7.6m seed funding led by Octopus Ventures to scale artificial intelligence stem cell platforms.
Octopus Ventures led the seed financing, with participation from Horizons Ventures, Verve Ventures, and Air Street Capital, to commercialise live cell imaging technology.
CellVoyant is an artificial intelligence driven biotechnology company that accelerates the development of novel stem cell therapies. The business combines advanced live cell imaging with proprietary technology to predict stem cell behaviour.
CellVoyant has secured £7.6m in a seed funding round led by Octopus Ventures, with additional participation from Horizons Ventures, Verve Ventures, and Air Street Capital. The capital will support the commercialisation of the company imaging and artificial intelligence platforms, which aim to make stem cell treatments more efficient and scalable.
The Bristol-based spin-out from the University of Bristol utilises live cell imaging alongside its FateView and FateCast technology to forecast cellular behaviour in real time. The fresh funds will allow the firm to accelerate research and development capabilities, expand its laboratory infrastructure, and scale its headcount significantly over the coming years.
Investor perspective
"University spin-outs like CellVoyant are at the heart of the UK’s thriving biotech ecosystem. CellVoyant sets a new standard in precision and reliability for predicting and controlling stem cell behaviour, which will make cell therapies more accessible to those who need them. We are thrilled to invest into a company that is transforming how patients can benefit from life-changing treatments."
