The seed round was led by XTX Ventures and Prostate Cancer Research to support regulatory approvals and clinical studies.
"We are tremendously excited about the potential of this system to enhance our ability to detect cancer accurately and early. We are now looking forward to working with hospitals and radiology and urology partners to prove the technology and bring it into clinical use. Covid-19 has created a serious backlog in cancer screening and Lucida Medical is well placed to help us clear this and improve the care that we offer further over the coming years."
The over-subscribed funding round was organised by West Hill Capital to support the deployment of Lilli's machine learning care platform.
"The timing for this new preventative approach to care and integration of our smart technology is crucial in meeting the needs of ageing population, this has only been exacerbated by COVID 19. The role of technology has a vital role to play in the future success of care delivery across the UK and globally."
The seed round was supported by a syndicate of investors including the Development Bank of Wales and the UKI2S Innovate Accelerator to fund platform development and laboratory expansion.
"Our investors recognise the potential of our AI-powered antibody drug discovery platform to provide a breakthrough in the industry. With our technology, it will be possible to develop drugs for difficult targets and ultimately reduce drug discovery timescales from years to weeks. In addition to platform development, the funding will enable us to invest in facilities and recruitment; we are grateful to our investors and Innovate UK for their continued support."
