The funding will increase clinical capacity and support the delivery of Phase I trials for novel medicines.
"BDD is an excellent example of an ambitious and innovative Scottish life science company with global reach. Its patented timed-release technology, alongside world-class clinical trial services offering, created a compelling proposition for the pharma industry. Building on a successful 18 months after the challenges of the pandemic, the company is well poised to pursue its growth strategy. We’re excited by what the future holds for BDD and looking forward to supporting Carol and the team."

Creandum led the Series A round with participation from Peter Thiel, firstminute, Seedcamp, Hambro Perks and Amino Collective.
"Clinical trials are the biggest bottleneck to improving human health. We deliver clinical trials three times faster than the industry standard, working with biotech pioneers to get new treatments to patients more quickly."
The investment round was led by Archangels to help the life science firm advance its cell analysis platform.
"We are uniquely positioned in harnessing the power of consumer electronics technology to meet the emerging, complex needs of the bioprocess industry. On the back of a very successful year for Cytomos, this new funding will now allow us to scale up our engagement with industry partners. We truly believe that, through our CDS technology, we offer a powerful platform which will help the scientific community bring novel therapies to market faster and radically reduce costs by making better informed, game-changing decisions a lot earlier."
The Series A round included backing from British Patient Capital, F-Prime Capital, and Sofinnova Partners.
"Tenpoint Therapeutics has been built on the pioneering work of its scientific founders who are recognised leaders in ocular therapies. Their vision combined with research excellence provides the best foundation to develop treatments that could be gamechangers for millions of patients worldwide. Through Future Fund: Breakthrough, we are delighted to support this truly innovative British business with the funding to take the business to the next level."
The Cambridge-based synthetic gene provider raised the capital from Mercia Ventures to expand operations and develop its DNA synthesis platform.
"We are delighted to have closed this latest round of funding with Mercia, which provides further validation of Camena’s approach. The ability to read, write and manipulate DNA is the foundation of the synthetic biology value chain, yet developments in DNA synthesis have not kept pace with DNA sequencing and editing capabilities. Camena’s gSynth platform is revolutionising the DNA synthesis market by unlocking access to genes and accelerating discovery pipelines. As the focus on sustainability and supply-chain security become more acute, Camena is leading the way with a green synthesis technology and is already well positioned to serve this burgeoning market. The invention of next-generation DNA sequencing technologies transformed our ability to ‘read’ DNA. Our goal is to enable our customers to ‘write’ DNA with the same confidence and ease."
