The financing was co-led by Illumina Ventures and Mérieux Equity Partners to support the development and commercialisation of the company gene editing safety technology.
"Our vision is a future where cell and gene therapies are safer, more efficient, and affordable for patients. Operating at the intersection of biology, bioinformatics and data science, our INDUCE-seq platform offers an unbiased, end-to-end solution that expedites the measurement and assessment of off-target gene editing during therapeutic development. This provides essential information required to progress therapeutic programs that leverage gene editing and mitigate potential risks that can result in later-stage clinical failures. By developing a deployable PaaS offering, we have the opportunity to provide the cell and gene therapy community with this much-needed solution and achieve rapid market growth."
Mercia Ventures led the seed financing round with participation from several backers to support platform validation and team growth.
"Enzymes play a wide-ranging role in disease, but current technologies are unable to develop drugs to tackle most of them. Our team at Kuano recognised the need to overcome these limitations."
The financing round includes contributions from Deepbridge Capital, Scottish Enterprise, SIS Ventures, Thairm Bio, and the University of Strathclyde to support clinical trials and commercial expansion.
"Our mission at Microplate Dx is to improve the quality of lives for patients by providing antimicrobial stewardship cost-effectively. Any delay in identifying the correct antibiotic for treatment can put lives at risks and huge pressure on clinical decision making, especially when the antibiotic sensitivity data that Microplate Dx can produce in an hour or less compared to the current approach that can take two days using existing techniques."
The private financing round was led by TCGX and Aisling Capital to fund clinical trials and commercial planning.
"We are grateful for the support of this group of leading healthcare investors for our work to bring potentially transformative treatment for mental health conditions to patients urgently in need of better options. We thank these investors for their confidence in our rigorous approach to building a strong base of evidence for the potential of COMP360 psilocybin treatment to help people with treatment-resistant depression (TRD), post-traumatic stress disorder, and anorexia nervosa."
M Ventures led the Series B round to support the company ahead of its commercial launch.
"The power of single-cell analysis to uncover the complexities of biology has become increasingly evident, but much of the work still focuses on the transcriptome as the primary readout."
