"This investment represents an incredibly exciting step towards our vision to become the de facto product to improve skiing technique. Skiing is a difficult sport to learn, and 88% of skiers stop lessons after less than 1 week – Carv offers a convenient and fun experience to continue learning. The pandemic has only accelerated the adoption of Carv’s digital ski instruction with us seeing over a 100% year-on-year growth for 2020 Q4. We are excited to be rapidly expanding our user base as the additional data helps us build an ever better coaching system. We are proud to welcome back our existing investors and see their continued support for our vision to deliver digital sports coaching. This is just the start for Carv, and we look forward to the next stage of growth and innovation."
Episode 1, MMC Ventures and NHN Ventures backed the mobile authentication platform as it exits stealth mode.
"Digital identity is an important investment theme for us and the key to unlocking the next leg of growth for the digital economy. The kind of frictionless authentication the founders have delivered is pretty close to magic. When a team, an idea and a solution come together at the same time – that’s what being a VC is all about"
The mobility app has raised £1.5m to support its roadmap and overseas expansion plans.
"What resonates with investors is not just the initial premise of the business and how it can appeal to all demographics, but also our ability to refocus during the pandemic. From the fact we are the first carbon-negative lift-sharing app to identifying the need for Errands to getting it up and running so quickly, is why we have been so successful in our funding."
Maven Capital Partners led the Series A round, which included backing from the North East Development Fund and the Future Fund.
"The social ad space is constantly evolving, and organisations must remain dynamic to ensure more than ever that they are engaging customers and creating bespoke experiences to satisfy those customers. Leaf is helping businesses cost-effectively acquire and retain high-value customers in what is an increasingly competitive environment. Gilbert has built an impressive business and we are delighted to support the business as it enters an exciting new phase of growth."
