WineFi secures £1.5m in seed funding led by Coterie Holdings to expand its team and growth.
The seed round was led by Coterie Holdings and included participation from angels and existing backers SFC Capital and Founders Capital.
WineFi is a data-driven investment platform that helps individuals and family offices build diversified fine wine portfolios. The company brings traditional asset management standards and transparent pricing to a historically fragmented market.
WineFi has secured £1.5m in a seed funding round led by Coterie Holdings. The raise also incorporated a crowdfund alongside participation from high-net-worth angels and existing backers SFC Capital and Founders Capital. The capital will be deployed to expand the team and accelerate business growth as the firm looks to establish modern fiduciary standards in the fine wine investment sector.
The London-based fintech offers quantitative analysis and curated portfolios to investors seeking alternatives to mainstream equities. By eliminating traditional merchant commissions at sale and bundling storage, insurance, and brokerage into an upfront annual fee, the company targets clients looking for transparent exposure to tangible assets.
From the founder
"The fine wine investment space has historically been split between wine merchants that are set up to facilitate drinking and collecting rather than investing, and bespoke investment businesses that often operate like merchants with added management fees. We created WineFi to serve investors who view wine primarily through an investment lens, offering them diversified, cost-efficient exposure to a fascinating asset class that has historically remained off-limits to all but specialists. While many of our investors are also wine enthusiasts, WineFi seeks to bridge the cap between the two."
