The investment round was led by Midven through the Midlands Engine Investment Fund to scale virtual ward services for the NHS.
Virtue Health Group provides virtual hospital wards enabling patients to receive acute healthcare at home through remote monitoring and specialist nurse visits.
Virtue Health Group has secured £1m in seed funding to develop the technology behind its virtual ward platform. The funding round was led by Midven through the Midlands Engine Investment Fund, with participation from QVentures and angel investors.
The capital will support the rollout of virtual wards across selected NHS trusts, initially focusing on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and heart disease. These virtual beds aim to alleviate hospital overcrowding and reduce care backlogs by treating patients safely at home.
The company is led by chief executive Robert Orford and chief medical officer Andrew Barlow, who pioneered the UK's first virtual Covid ward. The funding marks a significant step in scaling a model designed to improve care quality and lower NHS costs.

Investor perspective
"With demands on the NHS ever increasing, the market opportunity for virtual wards is huge. The MEIF investment will allow Virtue to have a significant impact on freeing up bed capacity for critically ill patients and alleviating hospital overcrowding."
