Twig is a London-based bioengineering startup that uses artificial intelligence and robotics to develop sustainable alternatives to petrochemical-based ingredients.
London-based bioengineering startup Twig has emerged from stealth mode with £3m in funding. The capital was provided by a group of backers including Project A, Seedcamp, Zero Carbon Capital, UKI2S, Gaingels, and angel investors through HackCapital.
The newly secured funds will support the company in advancing its technology platform, which combines artificial intelligence and robotics to identify and produce eco-friendly substitutes for environmentally damaging ingredients such as palmitic acid, isoprene, and acetone.
Founded in late 2022 by James Allen, Satnam Surae, and Russ Tucker, the firm aims to accelerate the global transition from unsustainably sourced materials to bio-fermented alternatives.
