SmartyPlants has secured £190k in funding from the British Design Fund to advance its smart sensor technology for houseplants. The new capital will be directed towards product development and exploratory work, including research into potential distribution opportunities in the UK and internationally.
Founded in 2023, the startup seeks to address common pitfalls in houseplant maintenance, such as inconsistent watering and poor light conditions, which contribute to high mortality rates among indoor plants. The investment follows previous funding secured by the company as it looks to expand its market presence.
