£2.2MSeed

Skiller Whale provides online live training and micro coaching for technology teams. The platform combines skills assessment with expert led classes tailored to engineers.

Skiller Whale has secured £2.2m in a seed round led by Brighteye Ventures. The capital will be used to scale up the company training offer for technology teams. Additional backing was provided by Playfair and RLC alongside a group of angel investors.

The platform addresses the difficulties companies face in hiring and retaining software engineers by offering flexible training alternatives. The funding follows adoption by scaling businesses including PensionBee and Drizly.

From the founder

"In founding Skiller Whale, I wanted to offer CTOs a real alternative to hiring for skill gaps. This means the kind of learning that has a ~100% completion rate, gives people immediately usable skills, and guarantees that nobody wastes a single hour learning something they already know."

Investor perspective

"The extraordinary pace of growth in tech means that developers need to constantly upskill to keep up, even while juggling ever expanding demand for their time — a challenge that will only become more acute in the coming years. We are impressed by the Skiller Whale founders who have experienced this problem first-hand and have built a personalised solution for developers to learn efficiently, and for companies to enhance their team capabilities reliably and at scale."
