London-based embedded mobile connectivity startup Shaka has secured £780k in a seed funding round. The investment was led by Haatch, alongside Purple Ventures, Antler, and several telecommunications angel investors. The company emerged from stealth mode to make the announcement.
Shaka uses eSIM technology and a software-as-a-service API layer to allow brands to offer mobile plans to consumers without the usual high setup costs and legacy infrastructure hurdles. The new capital will be directed towards international expansion and onboarding high-profile clients across the fintech, retail, and entertainment sectors.
The funding follows the founders meeting during an Antler residency in London in 2023. Shaka aims to capitalise on rapid growth within the global eSIM market.
