Radical Forge secures £2.6m seed investment from Mercia to expand its games studio
The Middlesbrough developer raised the funds from NPIF II, Mercia Equity Finance to grow its team and launch new titles.
Radical Forge is a games development studio based in Middlesbrough that builds original titles and contributes to major industry projects. Established in 2017, the studio employs around 70 people and has recently added a publishing division.
Middlesbrough-based games developer Radical Forge has secured £2.6m in seed investment from NPIF II, Mercia Equity Finance, managed by Mercia Ventures. The capital will enable the studio to expand its headcount by 15 roles, pursue larger industry contracts, and prepare for the early launch of its farming game, Southfield.
Founded in 2017 by Teesside University graduates, Radical Forge has previously contributed to notable titles such as Sea of Thieves and Gang Beasts alongside producing its own games. The latest backing arrives as the studio looks to capitalise on opportunities presented by downsizing across the wider games sector.
The Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II operates across the North of England, providing commercial finance options ranging from smaller loans to equity investments of up to £5m to support regional business growth.
