Oxford-based biopharmaceutical firm Orbit Discovery has secured £5.6m in seed funding to accelerate the expansion of its peptide discovery services. The financing round was led by Oxford Sciences Innovation, with participation from Borealis Ventures, Perivoli Innovations, and individual investor Kapil Dev Joory.
The capital will support the company as it scales its operations in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors. Orbit Discovery leverages a proprietary bead-based and microfluidic platform designed to screen peptide libraries against both soluble proteins and complex membrane-bound targets such as GPCRs.
The fresh capital arrives as the company seeks to position itself as a market leader in therapeutic peptide development. By combining high-throughput affinity screening with single-cell functional assays, the firm aims to address previous limitations in chemical diversity and target identification for drug developers.
