Share allotment filed at Companies House

Invizius is an Edinburgh based biotech company developing treatments to mitigate inflammatory responses in dialysis patients. The firm originated as a spin out from the University of Edinburgh.

Invizius has secured £2.8m in seed funding to advance its anti-inflammatory technology designed for dialysis patients. The round was led by Mercia, with participation from Downing Ventures, Old College Capital, and the Scottish Investment Bank. The capital will enable the Edinburgh-based firm to conduct pre-clinical testing, handle manufacturing, and prepare for upcoming clinical trials.

Originating as a spin-out from the University of Edinburgh, the company aims to address the high incidence of cardiovascular complications among long-term dialysis patients. Its proprietary H-Guard product coats filtration equipment to suppress the immune system response that causes chronic inflammation during treatments. The fresh capital supports the enterprise as it targets a subsequent Series A raise within 18 months.

Investor perspective

"Invizius is a great example of how Mercia can 'seed' a university spin-out and build it to attract the attention of high-quality investors. With our sector knowledge, experience with early-stage businesses and local presence in the market, Mercia is ideally placed to work with Invizius, and others like it, to create new Scottish success stories."
