British Design Fund has backed Huddersfield manufacturing startup Holdson in its latest funding round.
Share allotment filed at Companies House
Holdson develops precision electrochemical polishing machines designed to remove imperfections from metal components.
Manufacturing technology startup Holdson has secured £150k in funding from British Design Fund. The Huddersfield based company builds specialised electrochemical polishing equipment designed to smooth metal surfaces with high precision.
The newly acquired capital will be used to support early development partners as they test the first machines in production. In addition, the firm will continue to refine its hardware and focus on building brand awareness within the manufacturing sector.
The company was established by engineers Aaron Holt and Neil Dickinson, whose patented Electroform technology aims to address post-processing bottlenecks in additive manufacturing.
From the founder
"With our Electroform machine, we are meeting a clear need within post-processing in the additive manufacturing industry for a cost-effective and sustainable way to polish and finish metal surfaces to a high level of precision. While existing solutions are costly and slow, our patented process is up to six times faster, providing a 90% reduction in surface roughness in just 10 minutes."
