Cambridge spin-out HexagonFab has secured £1.9m in seed funding to commercialise its handheld analytical device for molecular binding detection. Cambridge Enterprise led the round, with participation from Parkwalk, New Grounds, R42 Group, and private backers. The capital will be deployed to expand the workforce and complete the market launch of the Bolt instrument.
The company's technology relies on graphene-based semiconductor sensors to measure protein and antibody interactions on site, reducing analysis times from days to hours. The backing is intended to help researchers accelerate development cycles for next-generation medicines.
