ExpressionEdits develops a computational gene editing platform that uses artificial intelligence and proprietary intron technology to optimise protein expression. The biotechnology firm operates from its headquarters in Cambridge.

ExpressionEdits has secured £10.2m in a seed funding round co-led by Octopus Ventures and redalpine. Additional participation came from BlueYard Capital, Wilbe Capital, Acequia Capital, Amino Collective, and Hawktail. The capital will be directed towards advancing candidate selection for preclinical trials and building out a pipeline focused on therapeutic proteins that have historically presented manufacturing difficulties.

Originating from University of Cambridge research, the company deploys an AI-powered platform to integrate biological data with machine learning algorithms. This genetic syntax engine aims to automate gene design optimisation and unlock the production of challenging therapeutic proteins.
