Cambridge-based Entomics Biosystems develops automated insect farming systems and microbial fermentation technologies to convert food waste into high-value agricultural feed.
Cambridge-based Entomics Biosystems has secured £600k in funding to advance its insect-based bioconversion technology. The round was backed by Green Angel Syndicate, Greek venture fund Metavallon, and angel syndicate Cambridge Agritech.
The company develops automated insect production systems that process food waste into black soldier fly larvae, which serve as a sustainable feed source for poultry. In addition, Entomics is working on a microbial fermentation process to enhance dried insect protein as an alternative to fishmeal in aquaculture.
The new capital will support the company as it scales its operations and commercialises its waste-to-feed technologies, addressing environmental pressures in both the poultry and fish farming sectors.
