Cumulus Neuroscience develops digital biomarker platforms and dry sensor EEG headsets to advance neuroscience clinical trials and patient care.
Cumulus Neuroscience has secured £6m in a seed follow-on financing round led by the Dementia Discovery Fund, with participation from LifeArc and the UK Future Fund. The capital will be deployed to advance the company's integrated biomarker platform, which gathers real-world data and artificial intelligence insights to streamline central nervous system clinical trials.
The Belfast-based company, formerly operating as BrainWaveBank, provides home-usable electroencephalography headsets and mobile assessments to track brain activity and functional domains. This approach addresses methodology challenges in neurodegenerative research by enabling remote, frequent monitoring outside traditional clinical environments.
Investors noted that the platform targets significant unmet needs in dementia research by offering more objective evaluations of drug candidates. The funding allows Cumulus to expand on its remote monitoring framework alongside pharmaceutical partners seeking efficient pathways for neurotherapeutic development.
From the founder
"We are delighted that DDF and LifeArc share our mission, addressing the clear need for more effective tools to provide the critical clinical trial data and analysis needed to improve the successful delivery of new CNS therapies to patients. This funding will allow us to build on the ground-breaking advances we have made in remote, frequent monitoring of brain activity and cognitive function in the home, in partnership with leading developers of digital biomarkers. We believe our integrated next generation platform can improve the execution of clinical trials by yielding significant time and cost savings, adding meaningful value to the next generation of CNS therapies."
