London-based CoMind develops non-invasive optical sensors to monitor cerebral blood flow and pressure through the skull.
London-based CoMind has raised $60m in a Series A funding round led by Plural, bringing its total capital raised to $102.5m. The financing saw participation from Angelini Ventures, LocalGlobe, Octopus Ventures, Crane, Backed, and Entrepreneurs First.
The company is developing a non-invasive brain monitoring system that uses optical sensors and photonics to measure cerebral blood flow and pressure through the skull. The technology aims to provide an accurate alternative to invasive intracranial pressure tests currently required for traumatic brain injuries.
CoMind plans to use the new funds to advance its technology towards hospitals and intensive care units in the United States and other markets. The company intends to submit its device for FDA approval within the next two years while simultaneously building an artificial intelligence analytics layer for predictive clinical insights.
