Causal provides a collaborative financial modelling platform designed to replace traditional spreadsheets. The London-based company enables teams to build interactive forecasts and connect live data sources.
Causal has secured $4.2m in seed funding led by Accel to expand its engineering team and commercialise its spreadsheet software. The round drew participation from existing backers including Coatue, Passion Capital, Verissimo Ventures, Naval Ravikant, and Varadh Jain, bringing the company total to $5.5m.
Traditional spreadsheets have remained largely unchanged for decades, often relying on cryptic formulas and remaining disconnected from core company data systems. Causal addresses these limitations by introducing plain English formulas, automated data integrations, and interactive dashboards designed for cross-departmental collaboration.
The fresh capital will support the company as it scales its operations and prepares for an upcoming official product launch. Co-founded in 2019, Causal targets mid-sized firms looking to democratise financial forecasting beyond traditional finance teams.
