Butternut Box is a direct-to-consumer brand providing fresh, human-grade dog food across the UK and Europe. The company uses a digital-first approach and personalised dietary offerings to serve pet owners.

Butternut Box has secured £40m in a Series D funding round led by L Catterton. Existing backers White Star Capital, Five Seasons Ventures and Passion Capital also participated in the financing.

The fresh dog food provider will direct the capital towards operational enhancements, product development and expansion into new markets and channels. Founded in 2016, the firm has built a strong brand presence across the UK and Europe through its personalised dietary offerings and bespoke production facilities.

The latest investment follows a period of scaling for the digital-first brand, which continues to develop its platform and manufacturing capabilities. The backing from its international syndicate of investors will support further domestic and cross-border growth.
