Atoa Payments secures £5.2m seed investment led by Valar Ventures
Valar Ventures led the seed round with participation from Passion Capital and Leo Capital.
Atoa Payments provides account-to-account payment technology allowing small retail businesses to accept in-store payments via Open Banking.
London-based payments startup Atoa Payments has secured £5.2m in a seed funding round led by Valar Ventures. The round also saw participation from existing backers Passion Capital and Leo Capital.
The capital will be used to support the company as it continues to target in-person payments for small and medium-sized enterprises across the UK. Atoa offers an account-to-account payment service designed to help high street merchants bypass traditional card networks and reduce transaction fees.
Investor perspective
"For businesses on the high street, every penny counts. Businesses need fairer solutions that improve cash flow and keep prices down for their customers. Open banking payments with Atoa could make a significant impact to their bottom line."
