The British startup secured the funding through a crowdfunding campaign to scale up international operations.

"We are delighted to have hit our crowdfunding target of £500,000 in under six weeks. This is a significant milestone for us. Unbroken connectivity should no longer be a luxury, but a necessity – yet for millions it remains a global postcode lottery."

Equitix led the financing alongside a debt facility from Santander to support regional infrastructure expansion.

"We are looking forward to investing in and developing Freedom Fibre's network roll-out. We believe Freedom Fibre is a strong business, operating in an essential infrastructure sector that has a critical role in providing connectivity for both the people and the economy of the North West. This sizeable investment further enhances Equitix's network infrastructure that distributes essential utilities to over 6.3 million customers across the UK and Europe. Freedom Fibre's network roll-out will continue our strategic aims to provide local communities with affordable, high-quality essential infrastructure."

Aviva Investors backed the wholesale full fibre provider to support the expansion of its Faster Britain networks.

"I am delighted to extend our partnership with Aviva Investors. We have made significant progress over the last two years, building a highly skilled team, scalable delivery capabilities, and creating a substantial full fibre footprint. This further commitment will enable us to continue to rollout our open access wholesale digital infrastructure at pace, giving more businesses access to the connectivity solutions they need to underpin their operations. ITS can now connect any business in the UK via our partnerships with key operators and using our own Faster Britain networks which we are continuing to build out across business dense locations in major towns and cities. We have also invested heavily in developing the systems that allow our partners to easily access high quality full fibre connectivity through our wholesale platform."
— Daren Baythorpe, CEO
