"We are delighted to be joining the Descycle team on their onward journey as they prove and scale their transformative technology. By enabling low cost, low carbon recovery of key metals from e-waste, Descycle are solving two major environmental problems; first, the displacement of the incumbent dirty, energy intensive processes and second, ensuring we have access to the critical metals we will need to deliver the green transition. Both are crucial. Descycle has a great management team and we look forward to helping them in any way we can as they grow the business."
The funding round was led by Two Magnolias and will support platform development and team expansion.
"This fundraise has been conducted in a very challenging economy, but our merits and successes are firmly rooted in the fact that we have an incredibly strong team that is tackling sustainability in a way that’s never been done before. We’re proud that the VCs we’re working with can see that we are breaking new ground in a global business challenge that is not going away. We believe that approaching sustainability as an ongoing process creates a perpetual space for continual improvement, resilience building and prosperity for all organisations, including our own."
The funding comprises debt from Triodos Bank UK and equity from international family offices and strategic backers.
"As a bank that is looking to finance systemic transformation, we have clear ambitions to expand our portfolio into pioneering projects and financing structures to support decarbonisation solutions. HumanForest is a fantastic example of a company that is innovating shared modes of transport to tackle urban pollution while increasing access to affordable transport – thereby contributing to more liveable cities. It’s exciting to be able to support HumanForest to reach more people across London and beyond."
