Educapital is Europe's first impact investment fund dedicated to the Future of Education and Work. Created in 2017 by Marie-Christine Levet and Litzie Maarek, the fund invests from late seed to series B in European edtech startups.
Litzie is cofounder and managing partner at Educapital. She also serves as a board member across several companies, including FourthRev, Ecole O'clock, PowerZ, Lunii, and Open Digital Education.
White Star Capital led the Series A round with backing from Educapital, Emerge, Active Partners, and Coalition Capital.
"We set out to combine the best teachers, leading technology, and the power of social media to build a platform that delivers the education that young people want and deserve. Our model makes learning affordable and ends the postcode lottery of achievement. With this funding and the support of our investors, we can take the next step in making world-class education available to every child in the UK, and now in the US. It brings us one step closer to being able to provide free access for every UK child on free school meals, which we set as a long-term company goal."
The round was led by Educapital with participation from Reach Capital, Emerge Education and Danner Capital.
"If the workforce is to succeed in this new economy, it will require a specific and different set of technological, emotional, and higher cognitive skills. Our mission is to support the workforce and learners through these changes,"
